Paleo-climate Records from Stalagmites in South China

The researches on the paleo-climate records from stalagmites in south China have been in              progress at KDL, Institute of Karst Geology, and up-to-date work as follows:

1. In order to find suitable samples (in 200, 000 years, high U-content, and good sedimentary characteristics), about 100 caves in Guangxi, Guizhou of south China, as well as a lot of
samples and about 10 stalagmites have been taken.

2. On the basis of the studies of sedimentary characteristics, and the U-series dating, two
stalagmites from Shuinan cave in Guilin, and Xiangshuiyan cave in Guanyang county have
been studied in detail on d 18O and d 13C. The initial results are as follows:

(1) The record in the stalagmite from Shuinan cave:

The stalagmite is about 246 cm high, and the age period is from 90 ka B.P. to 190 ka.
The isotopic records is simply shown in  figure1.

(2) The record in the stalagmite from Xiangshuiyan cave:

The stalagmite is about 188 cm high, and the age period is from 0 ka B.P. to 44.0 ka.
The isotopic records is simply shown in  figure2.
