Dr.Nico Goldscheider Came to China for Groundwater vulnerability and risk mapping and Tracer Test at Jinfo Mountain
(2006-08-28)

Dr. Nico Goldscheider, director of groundwater and climate change of IAH came to China by request of Academician Daoxian Yuan to carry out research on karst water resource and its environmental problem from Aug. 9 to 21 in 2006 . In the course of visitation, Nico visited Jinfo Mountain observation station, Jiulonggou ecological demonstration project in Nanchuan and Qianjiang Karst area. At the same time, he also made brilliant speech about ¡¶ Groundwater Vulnerability and Risk Mapping for the Protection of Karst Spring ¡· and ¡¶ Tracers in Hydrogeology ¡· for the graduate students.
Moreover, Nico introduced detailedly the methods about groundwater vulnerability and risk mapping at karst area and taught the graduate students how to do trace test and analyze water quality in the field. And, Nico interviewed Prof. Chris Groves and accepted the invitation of Prof. Chris Groves to enlist under IGCP 513. Under the multi-cooperation and the support of IGCP 513, Nico hoped to constitute an universal method for Groundwater vulnerability and risk mapping at karst area in the world.
