Main Objectives

2.1 To further reveal the mechanisms of physical, chemical and biological controls on karst processes, and establish relevant physical and mathematical models;

2.2 To reconstruct, with high resolution, the environmental change in South China since 200,000 B.P.;

2.3 To evaluate quantitatively the role of karst processes in the source and sink of global green-house gas;

2.4 To develop the karst hydrodynamic model with three dimensions and nonlinear flow, and solve problems in exploiting and harnessing karst water;

2.5 To study the mechanisms of karst cave development and karst collapses;

2.6 To understand the running processes of karst ecologic system, and to seek the approach to control and rehabilitate karst rocky desert.
