| Rocky desertification,drought and water deficiency are the main environmental problems in karst areas. Vegetation cover is merely 12.6%, in the karst region of Southern China. In Guizhou Province, area of soil loss makes up 28.4% of the whole and still enlarges continuously with annual rate of deforestation 900 km2. It hindered seriously the economic development and promotion of local people¡¯s livingstandard. Under the financial aid of Chinese Government, World Bank, and WFP, strives to rehabilitate rocky dese-rtification, resolve the drought problem, have made headway. Here are several successful examples in this direction. |
